01 Find Music-Based Resources for the DBT Skills You Already Know

Explore music-based ways to teach and reinforce skills across DBT's four core areas and expand the ways you can bring them into your clinical work.

  • Mindfulness to help clients become more aware, present, and less reactive.
  • Distress Tolerance to help clients get through difficult moments without making things worse
  • Emotion Regulation to help clients better understand and manage emotions
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness to strengthen communication, relationships, boundaries, and self-respect

02 Bring the DBT Skills to Life Through Music

You already know the DBT skills. Now explore practical ways to teach and reinforce them through music therapy.

Each skill includes music-based resources to help you move from understanding the skill to using it in your clinical work, including:

  • Music therapy interventions and activities designed around specific DBT skills
  • Video demonstrations so you can see and hear how the activities work
  • Session ideas you can adapt for your own clients and settings
  • Additional intervention ideas from the book Creative DBT Activities Using Music
  • Opportunities to develop and share your own music-based DBT interventions

So when you're preparing to teach or reinforce a DBT skill, you don't have to start from scratch figuring out how to bring music into the experience.

03 Learn, Share, and Grow Alongside Other Music Therapists

You don't have to figure out how DBT fits into music therapy practice on your own.

  • Connect in the forum with other music therapists who are learning and using DBT skills in their clinical work.
  • Share what's working as you try music-based DBT interventions with your clients.
  • Exchange intervention ideas and discover how other music therapists are adapting DBT skills for different populations and settings.
  • Join monthly consultation groups to bring questions, share successes and challenges, and deepen your understanding of the skills with professional peers.

The combination of practical resources, ongoing discussion, and live consultation gives you continued support as you expand the ways you're using DBT in your music therapy practice.

- Hillary Cartner- Ambrose MT-BC

“ Since signing up for this membership I've found it beneficial both personally as well as for my professional career. I'm a music therapist working in a VA program, where they have a nationwide push for whole health skills, which includes mindfulness. Heaven knows my year has been crazy, and because the way everything is presented resonates with me it's really helped me. This works and makes so much sense. I can do this. It helps me be a better person which will in turn help my clients.  I like that there is no time limit in processing the information and that they give us time to take it in and time to apply it.”
