Begins Monday Feb 17th. You can watch recording in your own timeframe.

If you ever:

  • Worry about how to best support clients with impulsive behaviors and erratic emotions…
  • Judge yourself or fear you lack knowledge and skill…
  • Find that you are not recognized by your treatment team as the true professional that you are (seen as merely fun entertainment)…
  • Need skills to cope through difficult situations in your own life …

then this workshop is just for you.

I'm Deborah Spiegel MT-BC. I was first introduced to DBT in 2001, when working as the music therapist in a facility that uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) as the treatment model.

Before DBT I struggled with wanting to throw in the towel with those clients with difficult behavior problems. Ever feel that way? I didn't have the skills to deal with some situations.

On top of that my treatment team used to think of me as the fun music lady, not really embracing me as part of the team like they do now.

Now all that has changed!

I love having a toolkit of practical life skills to draw upon to help me in my own life, and to help others, including the most challenging of clients. It's so powerful to teach the DBT skills through music therapy!

Find out why you’ll want to add DBTs practical life skills to your music therapy practice.

(And if you’re already working in a DBT program I'd love to meet you too! Come get some new ideas about how to be a music therapist on a DBT team.)

Learn:

  •  DBT skills and music intervention ideas that you can start using right away in your music therapy practice to support even your most difficult clients without feeling like pulling your hair out.
  • Skills to help you in your own life so you can get through difficult times, communicate effectively, and be a role model for those around you.
  • How to communicate effectively with other providers so that they collaborate with you in treatment.
  • How to be one of the trained music therapists in this field so you can take your practice to the next level while supporting your clients in creating a life worth living.
